Cavan
County Cavan sits just south of Fermanagh in Ulster, and like Fermanagh, it too has an abundance of lakes. In fact, it is said to have 365 lakes, yup, one for every day of the yearthat would keep any keen swimmer spoiled for choice in this landlocked county. Cavan’s history was dominated by two families or ‘lordships’, the O’Reillys and the O’Rourkes. Their dominance has since passed but it has left a long legacy including their family colours of black and gold splitting the county crest. This black and gold flag is centred by a sphere of water representing Cavan’s sprawling lakeland.
