County Mayo sits on Ireland’s west coast in Connacht. Mayo is Ireland’s third largest county, and its jurisdiction stretches into the Atlantic Ocean to include many islands, including Ireland’s largestAchill. Known for its iconic beaches and greenways, Achill pulls tourists from across the globe who are eager to cycle, surf, hike or just enjoy some great local fish and craic. Achill’s main attraction is Keel Beach, which is frequently named one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. The name Mayo, or ‘Mhaigh Eo’ means ‘the plain of the yew trees’. Yew trees are a native Irish evergreen and are said to live thousands of years. This ‘M’ flag captures two yew trees on a fiery Atlantic sky.
