Dingolay is a term used in the Caribbean to describe a happy, joyful and carefree occasion expressed in the form of dance. It’s not by coincidence why founder Cheryl Charles-Duval chose to name the product Dingolay. Navigating a childhood passion for blending seasonal fruits and spices to production of a line of gourmet products keeps Cheryl grounded to her joyful life in the Caribbean. Dingolay is an expression of that joy.
Cheryl was born in the countryside of Trinidad and Tobago to a family that was strict on education therefore going to college was non-negotiable. While pursuing my education, she spent her spare time playing in her grandmother’s garden and picking fruits which she later transformed into spiced and sweet sauces, jams and jellies and chutneys.
Cheryl graduated law school and later moved to New York where she continued her profession and gleefully continued experimenting with sweet and hot sauces which she shared with her friends and colleagues. She took the leap to commercial production with encouragement from her colleagues who quickly dubbed her as the “the peppersauce queen”.
Dingolay Gourmet Peppersauce reflects Cheryls circle of life beginning with the joy harvesting her grandmother’s garden followed by the joy of living in America and her inevitable return to her Caribbean roots in joyful fulfilment of her childhood passion.
