Hen’s Teeth are excited to announce the launch of new range of custom-made one-of-a-kind bags in association with Bury Me With The Lo On and Joubert Paris.
Designed by Joubert Paris and handmade in Paris, the bags are made from soft Italian calfskin, and feature vintage Ralph Lauren Polo pieces including polo shirts and other soft jersey fabrics. All the pieces used feature the iconic maritime and equestrian imagery synonymous with the Polo collection over the years.
The Lo Life's
In the 1990s a group of teenagers from the Bronx had their eyes on Ralph Lauren’s Polo line. Feeling like it had not been designed for them, they wanted to make it theirs, and be empowered by embracing this cultural crossover. Most of the pieces they wore were lifted from New York’s high-end department stores, and to this day, you can still find vintage Polo pieces with evidence that it came to the original owner through some stealthy five-finger discount action. These teens came to be known as the Lo Lifes, and their style influenced hip-hop and rap artists across the US. Documentary photographer, Tom Gould, and original Lo Life, Thirstin Howl the 3rd began a project to document and catalogue this sub-culture
