Hen’s Teeth X Thérèse Rafter
In July, we held our first solo exhibition of works by Irish photographer, Thérèse Rafter. The collection on display, Reflective Judgments, explored the culture of ‘throwaway living’ through images of ubiquitous plastic objects.
Through these images, Thérèse sought to reveal the spectacular in the mundane, in imagery which was both provocative and unsettling in its interpretation of human habit. The items photographed are manmade, yet void of human presence, and her still-life depictions inspired contemplation on the philosophy of beauty.
Thérèse was named RHA Emerging Photographer of the Year 2017, and it was our second time working with her, after she took part in our 60X60 exhibition.
We held a launch party for the exhibition, which ran for a week, and our sister company, Hen’s Teeth, produced a series of limited-edition prints of Thérèse’s works. The exhibition caught the attention of influential industry press, It’s Nice That, who ran an exclusive profile of Thérèse and the collection.
